Comic Con

I’m Off to Comic Con 2015

By  |

As of this morning, I will be heading – once again – to San Diego for this year’s Comic Con. This will be my 14th year attending the annual convention and my 7th year as part of press. Much like the last few years I will be not only be representing NiceGirlsTV at the event but also TV Equals and my own site Rueben’s Ramblings.

It will be great to be reunited with the other staff members of NiceGirlsTV and staying at the same rental property where we have stayed for several years now.

Once we are all checked in at the convention, we will have the chance to check out preview night, getting a first look at all of the booths and set-ups in the exhibition hall as well as checking out screenings of the following pilots: Supergirl, Blindspot, Containment and Lucifer

If all goes well on Thursday, I will be getting into the panels for the new Amazon series Hand of God that will star Beauty and the Beast and Sons of Anarchy actor Ron Perlman; a sneak peek at the new fall NBC drama The Player that finds former box office star Wesley Snipes and Strike Back actor Philip Winchester starring; an exclusive sneak preview of what’s to come on the TNT series The Last Ship and a look at the new Syfy series Dark Matter.

The line-up for my Friday schedule will hopefully include press room interviews with the cast and creative minds behind The 100; the pilot screening of Lucifer; a sneak peek at the upcoming MTV drama The Shannara Chronicles; the other new Amazon series The Man in the High Castle, which is based on the Philip K. Dick novel; a panel focusing on the upcoming USA Network drama Colony that will star Josh Holloway (Lost) and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead and Prison Break) and a salute to the fan favorite BBC America drama Orphan Black.

Much like every other year, Saturday will be the busiest day of the entire convention since that is when the largest number of attendees show up. Among the panels that I hope to get into are Once Upon a Time; the annual TV Guide’s Fan Favorites; Grimm and Outlander (my personal favorite right now), which will be followed by the pilot screening and Q&A panel of the new CW drama Containment. The evening will end with the big screening block hosted by Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment, focusing on the new fall drama Supergirl as well as returning favorites Arrow, The Flash and Gotham. The special block will also feature a look at DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and the digital series Vixen.

The convention will come to a close on Sunday and it is my plan to check out the panel that will feature one of our very own in a panel saluting Modern Day Superheroes; and if all goes well, I will also hopefully get into Hall H for the Heroes Reborn panel.

If any of our readers are attending Comic Con 2015, I hope you have a great time; and that everyone will follow us @NiceGirlsTV on Twitter as we post about all that we see and hear at the convention. And, of course, check back here at the NiceGirlsTV for our coverage of the con.

Using her favorite online handle, Rueben is an East Coast-bred gal who is now a permanent Californian and a lifelong tv-oholic. She watches at least 25 TV shows a week, goes to the movies as often as possible, listens to music every waking moment, reads every day and “plays” on the internet every chance she can. Some of her current favorite TV shows are Outlander, Sweet Magnolias, Wednesday, The Mandalorian, The Equalizer, Fire Country, Miss Scarlet and the Duke, The Rookie, Cobra Kai, Virgin River, The Witcher, Leverage: Redemption and School Spirits.  She is looking forward to the season premieres of Hudson & Rex on UPtv and Skymed on Paramount+ as well as the return of fall TV albeit starting in February.
