MODERN FAMILY: AMERICAN SKYPER {RECAP}

By  |

I can’t believe the season finale is here already! This season has flown by so fast! This episode was funny as always, and I liked the Robot Phil element (I would love to see some behind the scenes footage on how they shot those scenes). But the nail biter is the big Andy/Haley/Beth cliffhanger! We will definitely tune in next season to find out who will get the final rose. Let’s dig in!

It was Alex’s Graduation day and the whole family gathered at Jay and Gloria’s for a graduation party. Phil skyped in on a tablet that was the head of a robot because he was unable to fly home from Seattle (he had an ear infection) and didn’t want to miss the festivities.

Cam (who’s rocking braces now and his speech is too funny) and Mitch got approved to purchase the apartment upstairs. Cam was so excited but Mitch wasn’t and Cam didn’t understand why because it is what they have wanted. Mitch got laid off at work and didn’t tell Cam because he thought he would get a new job quickly without a problem. Well it’s been a month and Mitch still hasn’t had any luck. Ouch.

While job hunting, Mitch would have lunch in the park and he met an older guy named Spencer. They played checkers together and became fast friends (he even helped Mitch get over his fear of birds). Cam knew something was up, and noticed Mitch texting on his phone. He saw texts from Spencer that said “had a great time” and assumed Mitch was having an affair. He confronted Mitch and thought he wasn’t attracted to him anymore because of his braces. Mitch told him the truth about getting laid off and Cam was just relieved he wasn’t having an affair.

Andy’s girlfriend Beth was visiting and she seemed so nice and sweet. Once Haley saw them together she realized she would move on from Andy. Well his girlfriend warned Haley that Andy was hers without saying it in so many words. Her approach was a little scary. Haley asked Andy if Beth ever mentioned anything to him about not liking her and he said she was obsessed with Haley (in a good way he thought but it seems to be more stalker-ish to me). He told her that Beth asked about where she worked, if she hiked alone, things like that because she was concerned about Haley. Yeah right. Beth is nutty! She tried to “accidentally” set Haley’s hair on fire with a candle. She doesn’t want Haley around her man.

Andy asked robot Phil for advice. Beth dropped some hints about him proposing and he loved her, but questioned his feelings for another girl. Robot Phil (not knowing the other girl was Haley) encouraged him to propose to Beth if he loved her and that’s what Andy decided to do. Later when Haley asked robot Phil for advice about Andy, he realized his daughter loved him and she was the girl Andy told him about. He tried to tell Andy not to propose and he was making a mistake. Unfortunately robot Phil was muted and no one heard him. Andy hugged Haley goodbye and left to go propose to Beth while robot Phil screamed noooooo!!! What a cliffhanger? I really hope Andy and Haley get together next season, I think they are so cute and Beth has got to go.

Mitch gave Alex a thoughtful scrapbook, Jay gave her a trip to Europe, and Gloria gave a touching toast for her graduation. Claire felt a little down because she couldn’t compete with those gifts (and we know Claire loves a good competition). Alex reminded her that she wouldn’t be where she was if it wasn’t for Claire. She told her mom she didn’t need to do anything else; she had done enough. Then she asked Claire to come with her to Europe! There is nothing like a fun mother daughter trip!
