Castle: So Much Click-Bait, So Little Time

By  |

The Castle Fandom hungers for fresh news. So much so that we click on any link we see, and a lot of people’s emotions run high when the news is extreme on either end of the spectrum.

Recently, some stories have emerged, seemingly originating from a VERY reliable and reputable entertainment blog, which I would term “Click-Bait”. They’ve spread throughout other sites and become repeated over and over, when they’re really just speculation and hearsay.

The people at ABC and more specifically, inside the Castle ‘machine’, aren’t talking, and rightly so. Things are still up in the air. Season 8 hasn’t been confirmed publicly, neither has Stana signed on for another season NOR has any of the other cast… PUBLICLY.

If this information was available to be disseminated to the fans, we’d have a press release directly from ABC. Not an article slyly hinting at discord behind the scenes at the show. I’m ashamed at sites that go directly for the jugular, knowing they’ll get hits and drive their revenue, after all, we’ll read anything with the buzzword “Castle”, right?

So here’s me, saying we should slow down – keep in mind that ~of course~ ABC would want Nathan to sign up for Season 8 first. They’d be foolish not to get everyone else on board at this point. Everyone has worked together without any hint of a fight for SEVEN YEARS… They’re just starting to step up to other things, just like you’d move on to another job in a natural way. We’ll get a new showrunner if the show gets renewed, and even if we only get a final season, at least we’ll get to wrap things up with a pretty bow on top.

Eight years is a nice long run. More is even nicer. Don’t let the sharks bite you in the butt guys. Click on the bait, but don’t let it pull you under.

Karen Lindsay, often teased as being "obscurely famous," talks a lot. (i.e. she podcasts). Her current and past projects involve television shows like "Chuck", "Castle", "Orphan Black", "Farscape", "Supergirl", "Lucifer" and many others. She's an avid gamer, reader, & collector of all things shiny - and while you may not think those things go hand-in-hand, they sometimes do. So don't ask her about how many pets she has in Warcraft. (or how shiny they are).
