12 MONKEYS Recap: Paradox

By  |

2015
Jones is meeting with her father and talking about a new job offer she has working on quantum splintering. He tells her, “You can’t live by science alone.” When she gets home Cassy is there waiting, she needs Jones’s help.
While Cassy is out on this mission Aaron starts to pitch his idea of saving the ones you love to Cole. Cassy gets home and interrupts his spiel though. In walks Jones. I doubt Cole has ever been so pleased to see anyone…ever.

Over at Markridge they are having a board meeting and lamenting on what a bad year it has been for them. Poor Markridge. Jennifer shows up at the meeting and launches a hostile takeover. She’s in charge now.

Back at Cassy’s Jones is doing some figuring. If they can get a blood sample from the original Cole (who was born in 2009) maybe they can produce some sort of paradox. Unfortunately Aaron has had enough, he leaves. He has to figure out how to save her, while she and Cole are trying to save the world. Cassy goes back inside and Aaron makes a call – he wants to make a deal.

Aaron then goes to meet with Olivia. He doesn’t really care what her agenda is; he wants to make sure she can assure his and Cassy’s safety post plague.

Cassy and Jones drive out of the city to find little Cole. On the way out there Jones is nauseous, she’s pregnant. We know how that ends.

2043
Jones is listening to a music box in her quarters and looking at pictures of her daughter. Mixed in is a business card for a car shop/garage.

2015
Cassy and Jones pull up to that same garage. They see a child playing out back, it’s a young Cole. Cassy tells Cole’s Dad the truth about why they need Cole’s blood. He pulls out a shotgun and tells them to leave. It’s only when Cassy mentions the Army of the 12 Monkey’s that he starts to listen. Cole’s Mother went on about protecting Cole from an army of monkeys before she disappeared.

Cole’s Dad agrees to come with Cassy to see grown up Cole. When he sees Cole he knows they are telling the truth.

2043
While working on the machine Jones notices red vines hanging from the seat. One of the scientist said there was a power surge late last night. Jones does not look like she likes this development.

2015
Young Cole is having blood drawn by Cassy while older Cole looks on. His Dad sits by his bedside and tells Cole having him saved his life. They talk about Cole’s Mother too. It’s very sweet.

Cassy gets a call from Aaron. He says he is around the corner in the parking lot, she needs to come quickly. When she gets there he wants her to get in the car…now. They struggle and she punches him in the nose before running back to Cole. Right before she gets to the front door she sees Tall Man. Jones and Cassy take young Cole and escape in a car, not before Young Cole sees his Dad get shot, and killed by Tall Man.Untitled

Thankfully inside the house Cole has enough time to inject himself with his younger self’s blood. It causes a paradox. Cassy gets back to her house to find all of the window’s blown out and a naked Cole lying in the middle of the floor. He is healed now. She tells Cole it was Aaron that sold them out and that they had better go.

Jones and Cassy leave young Cole with CPS where they say he will be okay. Jones says her goodbyes to Cole, because of the paradox he can’t travel in time anymore. He now lives in 2015 permanently. Then a hand holding Cassy and Cole look on as a young Cole meets a young Ramse for the first time.

2043
The red ivy is still growing on the machine, now more than ever. They theorize it is not from their time. Alarms start to go off, Whitley is back. He is holding the head of one of his men and he is shaking (understandably). He keeps repeating, “They are coming. They are coming.” While outside some scary white skinned dudes dressed in all black ask Deacon if he is sure he can get them into the facility. It is very important to them.
