THE FLASH: “Tricksters” {Recap}

By  |

While I’d love to spend all of today talking about Mark Hammill (guest staring as the Trickster), there’s probably other things that should be discussed. But I’m happy to be back doing this while Lexie’s hard away at her book.

Sure the show’s all about Barry and all about his childhood trauma (seeing that flashback only confirms that – Jesus watching her die was not what I needed) but the ladies of the show are important. Focusing on them might seem strange, but they make Barry’s life more meaningful and complete.

Given that someone’s setting off bombs that look like gifts with parachutes, I’m not shocked monthers didn’t go insane. All of the Tricksters (the new one and the old) are creepy and I hope that Iris and Caitlin have nothing to do with him.

At least so far Iris has stayed far far away, but she’s worried about her boss who’s gone missing (I wonder where he’s gone? Into the abyss that is Harrison Wells’ crazy perhaps?). But then she goes and talks to the Flash about her worries and stops trying to do something on her own and decides that she needs someone’s help. She’s probably right to ask Barry/The Flash, but still she could have done more on her own than just ask for help.

Harrison Wells having a lady friend Tess who helps him name S.T.A.R Labs is cute and all, but could we maybe have seen her do more than just be his date? Back in the flashback, however, Tess is killed by Eobard Thawne (guest star Matt Letscher), who looks like he has a problem with Harrison.

Back in the here and now, Iris is at some event where she gets a flute of champagne from the Trickster and if I never have to see another lady as helpless, it’ll be great. Too bad I probably won’t have that happen in the near future. Too bad while Iris has drunk poisoned champagne, Candice is just stuck in the office listening to Harrison Well’s science talk as Barry must vibrate at a certain rate to stop himself from exploding thanks to a kinetic bomb the Tricksters placed on him.

Even though Barry’s dad was held hostage by the Tricksters, in the end he also learns Barry’s secret. So who’s still left in the cold? Not a lady, that’s for sure. Oh damn and just after Dr. Allen learns that Barry’s the Flash, Eddie does too. Just to cover up the story of Mason’s disappearance. Thanks men for trying to work something out for a lady without her say. That’s classy with a capital K.

At least now that Barry’s dad knows, Barry can get him into S.T.A.R. Labs and have him meet Cisco, Candice and Wells. Candice does the very lady-like thing of giving Dr. Allen a hug before she doesn’t say anything else (with reason).

Well back in the past, Eobard tells Harrison that the particle accelorator would have happened in 2020 if not for what he needs Wells to do. What that actually means is that Eobard transforms himself into Wells just as he kills the real Wells. That mess with the Wells we know just got rally complicated. Later on at least Barry figures out that Wells is the Reverse Flash, which really means that Thawne is the Reverse Flash I guss.

The Flash airs on Tuesdays at 8PM Eastern/7PM Central on The CW.
