HELIX – 2.07 ‘Cross-Pollenation’ And You Thought Your Family Was Crazy.

By  |

Helix207_fairytaleWe were treated with a Fairy Tale of Brother Michael’s arrival on the island, however I don’t think any of his stories end with “and they all lived happily ever after.” This tale comes from the mouth of a “child” Immortal who also happens to be ancient. She tells Dr. Walker that Michael has perfected infertility. “Simple, elegant, guaranteed results.” Infertility. Well, now we know what sent the newbie immortal to the island!

Helix207_inthepitBack in the pit, things are going from bad to worse with Peter. Things went from “it’s raining rats” to a new roomie, in the form of Sister Anne. The two biker like rats in a cage themselves, but soon bond over the most common of things. Who’s got the more screwed up family. Yes, I agree “It’s the absolute pits.”

Sister Anne commiserates with Peter on their shared dilemma, however escape is not an option for her. In the sister’s poor deluded mind she believes Michael will come to her. When they both discover the plant stew Michael has been concocting everyone knew something very bad was about to go down.

Helix207_SarahAlan wakes up with a terrible “I went plum crazy” hangover while Sister Olivia play’s hide-the-infected. The doctors try to get a handle on the impending outbreak. Dr. Jordan is missing and Alan takes Kyle in search of her. His memory is coming back in fragments. What he does remember is very bad and involves a ton of blood.

Sarah is discovered wandering around underground and is saved just in the nick of time by Alan when he dispatches her infected attacker. I must say, the phrase “Rapid fungal overgrowth” is not a phrase I ever want to hear again. Once the immediate threat is dispatched Alan takes her to the infirmary in hopes of discovering the fate of her immortal baby. The results weren’t good. No signs of life.

Helix207_daddydearestBrother Michael is so discouraged by the morale of his people that he begins speaking to his Incest Hall of Fame wall. When Amy confronts Daddy about his actions and the coming incestuous relationship that is expected of her, all the skeletons some out of the closet. Michael not only knew of her dealings with Landry, but was proud of her attempts at leadership. Eeew!

All of this came to no avail when he revealed his awful plan for both her and the people of St. Germaine. Michael plans on what he calls “A Thinning.” He wants to  kill all but a few chosen survivors in grand cult style. The matter is made much worse knowing this is not the first time a thinning has occurred, and his plans for re-populating the island very much involve Amy herself, “With or without her teeth.”

Helix207_deathOh my GAWD! I wondered what was up with the teeth? The answer was far, far worse than I could have ever imagined! Now, normally in a series when mass murder is threatened, the heroes always come in at the last moment to save the day. Helix, shattered all those illusions this week and let the deaths play out. Where we go from here is anyone’s guess, but It’s gonna take me a few days to get over those death scenes and the boy with the cape.
