THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: STAY {RECAP}

By  |

WOW! This episode was another emotional roller coaster. Grab some wine, some tissues and let’s get down to it!

It’s Jeremy’s last day in Mystic Falls and he is off to art school. He was able to graduate early (thanks to some vampy persuasion by Damon- he compelled the principal to allow it). The gang all gathered at Mystic Grill to wish Jeremy well and have some drinks.

Sherriff Forbes had a flashback to the night Elena’s parents died and wanted to close that case (it was still an open investigation). Damon showed up and assured her he didn’t have anything to do with their death and said it looked like she had an old fashioned whodunit on her hands, and he was going to help her figure it out.

Stefan was helping Caroline with a surprise for her Mom.  Stefan has made himself readily available to support her and it is so sweet.  Their connection is growing stronger each episode, and brace yourself Steroline fans- They finally kissed! Yay! They were standing on the porch holding hands and he told her how he wasn’t just there with her because her mom asked him to look out for her; he was there because he wanted to be. He leaned in for the kiss and it was perfect! I started clapping! Steroline is real peeps and I couldn’t be more excited.

Enzo sent Sarah Salvatore to Mystic Grill with the idea she was to take pictures of the restaurant for the website. He called Matt and told him to show her around. Sarah and Matt have good chemistry and they really hit it off. Matt seemed to like her.

Enzo’s crazy butt found Jeremy and gagged him (payback isn’t always sweet). He called Matt and told him to bring Sarah to a tunnel or else Jeremy was going to get it. Here we go. Enzo is bringing the crazy now.  Matt and Sarah went to the tunnel and Enzo ran Matt over with his car. Crazy! Then he played the hero role and walked over to “save” Matt (as if he wasn’t driving the car that hit him). He wanted Sarah to find out about vampires existence so he fed Matt his blood and ran off vamp speed. Sarah was pretty freaked out by it all (rightfully so). What the hell is he up to?

After reviewing evidence and finding out that Elena’s parents’ accident was really an accident (no foul play) it was tough for Sherriff Forbes to accept. She wanted someone or something supernatural to blame. Damon showed his sweet supportive side by being with Sherriff Forbes and taking care of her. These Salvatore brothers are showing all their charm in this episode.

Jeremy didn’t feel right about leaving with Enzo on the loose and Sherriff Forbes being sick. Elena and Alaric convinced him that he deserved a normal life and it was time to get out of Mystic Falls. Alaric was taking him to the airport so Elena and Jeremy said their sweet goodbyes. Aw!

Sherriff Forbes asked Damon for a drink. He left to get it and asked her if she wanted it on the rocks or not. She didn’t respond; she looked like she was sleeping.  Damon rushed her to the hospital. When Caroline got there and saw her mother, she started crying because she didn’t get to say goodbye. She was stable but not responsive. Caroline blamed herself and once again she pulled at our heart strings. She wanted to be with her mom in her final moment.

Plot twist! Alaric took Jeremy to a bus stop (not the airport). He was not really going to art school. He was headed to hunt vampires in Santa Fe. Say what? Alaric and Jeremy had a vampire hunting plan and Elena was not supposed to know anything about it. Scandalous!

Stefan and Caroline were at Sherriff Forbes’ bedside and he told Caroline to hold her mother’s hand and think of her favorite memories with her mother.  Damon, Elena and Matt came in the room and they were all present when Sheriff Forbes passed away. It was beautiful and heartbreaking. If you hadn’t cried yet in this episode, you definitely shed a few tears during this scene. RIP Sherriff Forbes, you will be missed.

What did you think of this episode? What do you think Enzo is up to?  Did you cry like I did? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Quote of the Night: Damon to Sherriff Forbes, “Not to be blunt…but I think dying gets you a ticket out of work. Just sayin.”

Honorable Mention:  Elena and Jeremy smoked weed together (a graduation present to Jeremy from Damon) and had a great brother/sister bonding moment.

 I’d like to give a shout out to Steven McQueen (Jeremy) on his last episode. I love him as Jeremy and hope to see him back in Mystic Falls with Bonnie! Farewell Jeremy! Enjoy the ride!
