THE GOOD WIFE – 5.18 ‘All Tapped Out’ The Devil Comes To Lockhart/Gardner

By  |

The geeks are back and they’re taking lie detecter tests. Someone is leaking information to the press. When our lead geek Jeff Dellinger(Zach Woods) feels the bullseye on his back, guess which law firm he runs to? Yep, our guy makes a bee line to Florrick/Agos. For a geek, Jeff is not the sharpest knife in the drawer when he inadvertently reveals their surveillance of not only Alicia, but Peter and his office as well due to a three-hop tap.

TGW518_newduoThis information lights a fire under Alica burning away the fog of grief which had engulfed her. We are treated to a series of controlled maneuvering between Alica’s firm and Peters Office, and in true ‘The Good Wife’ style our characters used the NSA’s surveillance to their best advantage. First Alicia uses The Weasel Canning’s own words against him thereby placing him on the NSA’s radar.
Peter was able to brilliantly remove the NSA by ‘blackmailing’ one of his colleagues. And last but not least our geek gets his job back when the tables are turned on his supervisor when he mysteriously began receiving suspicious calls from a local mosque. I must say the bow on this package was rather suspiciously neat and tidy. I would have liked to have seen more believable tension on this subject, but there was so many other things going on in this episode the story needed to be abbreviated.

TGW518_meetingLockhart/Gardner does merge, but not with Florrick/Agos. Thanks to some manipulation by David Lee, Louis Canning infests LG. David would be willing to sacrifice a limb to thwart Diane on any matter. Here’s hoping this inane choice comes back to bite him in the butt big time.

Canning is most definitely a wolf in sheeps clothing when it comes to Diane. He appears to thrive in creating chaos around himself. Kudos goes to Michael J. Fox in playing this character, because when he stated he was the new Will to Kalinda I almost threw something at my TV myself in anger.

Louis is not stupid and has already made quite a mark at Lockhart/Gardner, but he most certainly has bit off more than he can chew when he set his sights on Kalinda. NO ONE plays the game better than this investigator, and when she gave a small smile to Canning it looked like a cat happy to see it’s favorite mouse. You could almost feel sorry for the guy knowing something terrible is coming, but Louis is so despicable I’m going to completely enjoy observing his demise.

TGW_518_KALINDADIANEObservations:

• It is good to see Agos put on his big boy pants and begin thinking for himself. That guy’s got a sharp mind when he decides to use it.

• Clarke Hayden stepped up to the plate as well in this episode which made me wonder what will it be like when all three of them start working together. Florrick, Agos and Hayden pulling in the same direction will be unstoppable.

• Can you say awkward? The scenes between Peter and Alicia were incredible. Oddly enough, these two are much more interesting when they are add odds than when they are in love.

• I am so very very happy to see something interesting going on with Kalinda. Thank you!

• Seeing Eli (Alan Cumming) bow down to Peter stating: ” I am not worthy.” I howled with laughter!|

• Last but not least, I cannot neglect to mention the ongoing case and dynamic with Finn Polmar. You know? I might actually like his character better than Will.
