HART OF DIXIE Recap: Back in the Saddle Again

By  |

NiceGirl Louise is gallivanting around Wonder Con this weekend (I’m clearly not bitter about it) so I am filling in on this week’s Hart of Dixie.

Back in the Saddle AgainThe County Fair
Bluebell is in the running to host the County Fair. Lavon has a miniature Bluebell with fair rides made up and he is sure he can close the deal. That is until Mayor Gainey comes a calling to let Lavon know Annabeth is dating his nephew. George tries to calm Lavon down and it works for a while.

During the presentation to the Fair Committee Lavon sees Annabeth with Davis and he has a mini breakdown. He starts drinking and ruins the presentation. In fact he ends up drunkenly stumbling over to Annabeth’s house to tell her he thinks Davis is with her as a play to ruin Bluebell’s bid for the fair. Annabeth is hurt and shuts the door on him.

At the end of the episode a hung over Lavon is not the most popular guy in town. They are mad at him for losing the County Fair bid and Annabeth is not speaking to him.

Back in the Saddle AgainMagnolia
Still staying with Brick’s Mother, Magnolia pops back into town to ask Brick’s permission to go to a party. The party is at Carter Covington’s (Ryan McPartlin) house, in Charleston. Brick says absolutely not. He wants her to go back to her Grandmothers right now and call when she gets there. She never calls so of course Brick goes after her. He rallies George to drive and they set off on the seven hour trip to Charleston. Once there they find there was no party at Carter’s. Carter does have an evite from Magnolia though for a “Daddy is Away Kegger”. She planned on him coming after her and that gave her 14 hours round trip to have her shindig. Brick is pissed, ““I have sired an evil genius!” George responds, “Two. Kinda.”

When Brick gets home he finds Magnolia trying to clean up the house. It is a disaster. They end up coming to an agreement. She will go back to a boarding school and he will check in on her more frequently.

Wade & Vivian
At yet another Wilkes family function Wade is about to taste barn brewed beer when Vivian saves him. She says they should go out, just the two of them. He agrees that is a great idea.

Her ex, Charles takes Harley to that evenings Wilkes family function while Wade and Vivian go to a wine bar. They are having a good time until Charles starts texting her pictures and sending her updates from their evening. Vivian clearly wants to be with the family so Wade tells her to go, have fun.

The next morning Wade stops by Vivian’s to see her only to find Charles just leaving. He drank too much wine and slept on the couch. Wade is less than amused but Vivian doesn’t think it is a big idea.

Annabeth
Things are going great with Davis. He would like to take their relationship outside of the house, maybe for some breakfast. She says his Uncle being the mayor of Fillmore and all that might not be a good idea yet. He takes this hiding out in the house really well and I figure it has something to do with the way Annabeth looks in just his shirt.

Over the episode Lemon and Zoe both call Annabeth for advice on their possible dating situations but Annabeth is wrapped up in what she has going on so she suggests they talk it out with each other. They think that is a ridiculous idea and ignore her advice.

Back in the Saddle AgainLemon & Peter & Zoe & Vince
Moments after telling George, who is still being all awkward, that she is going on a three month man-cleanse Lemon literally runs into Peter (Robert Buckley). He is there for work, something he volunteered to do so he could see Lemon. He asks her to dinner and she hems and haws, because that’s what a woman would do when a guy that looks like Peter asks them to dinner, she’d pause.

That same morning Zoe is reminded of Joel everywhere. The renovation is done on her house and her contractors comments about a happy couple living there really get to her. She is talking to herself and not paying attention when a guy almost runs into her on his bike. He offers to make it up to her with dinner. She has to get back to him. Vince is his name and again…she pauses.

After Annabeth gives them no advice both Lemon and Zoe agree to their respective dinner dates.

Now of course they need to decide what to wear so they both independently go to Brick for help. Lemon asks her Dad which outfit will make her look like, “A casual free thinker, like the people on HBO.” He’s slightly appalled when Zoe shows up. She needs Brick’s opinion on her clothes as well. She wants one that says, “I just put my feet back in the water dating wise and while I’m optimistic the date will go well I won’t have sex until I’m good and ready.” She is asking a lot of a dress.
He does what Annabeth did, puts Lemon and Zoe together. They say they don’t need each other’s help but they both make comments about the others clothes effectively helping them decide what to wear.

Back in the Saddle AgainLemon has Peter over for dinner. She states how easy and casual she is where as Zoe starts her date stating how she will not be having sex with Vince. He tries to impress her with the fact that he is a dentist. How do you suppose that goes? Vince is quite arrogant. He makes comments like for half the schooling he makes twice the cash. He calls Zoe a snob but says it’s okay because she is easy on the eyes. Zoe gets up to make a phone call

Lemon is fairing a little better. She is having a good time but the fact that Peter will be gone the next day and who knows for how long throws her. Lemon gets up to make a phone call as well.

They call each other and say they will meet at Zoe’s office. There they sit saying nothing for some time and then decide they need some wine. Then Zoe and Lemon decide to cover their eyes so they don’t see who they are confiding in and spill their issues. Shocking to no one but themselves, Zoe gives Lemon some good advice and Lemon gives Zoe good advice.

Zoe gets back to the restaurant where her date is surprising still waiting. She tells him he has an overblown sense of self. She starts to yell at him and he says he is turned on. She storms out.

Lemon gets back to her house where Peter is still waiting as well. She tells him she wants something lasting, with a future. He’s sorry he can’t be that for her. He kisses her cheek and leaves.

At the end of the episode Zoe finds Annabeth at the Rammer Jammer where she tells Annabeth she is selling the new house. Annabeth tells her she met someone. Then Lemon shows up and makes a jab at Zoe before saying she can stay for breakfast. They sit and listen to Annabeth talk about her new love.
