Revolution 2.16: Exposition Boulevard

Neville and Jason

The standoff between Neville, Rachel, and Miles ends with Rachel and Miles escaping and Doyle taking it out on Neville. Doyle treats Truman badly and Neville plays on his insecurities to convince him to go after Monroe with him.

Miles, Rachel, Gene, Monroe, Charlie, Conner

Miles and Rachel escape Neville and Jason and head out looking for another safe house. They run into Charlie, Conner, Monroe and their posse headed back from New Vegas. They find another place to hideout in an building by a dam.

Gene watches Charlie and Conner together and immediately realizes that they are lovers and tells Rachel who doesn’t want to believe it.

Miles shows Monroe the re-education camp and they plot a way to take it, rescuing some of the recruits, and likely killing others. On their way back to their base, they find two young teenage recruits spying on them. Miles keeps Monroe from killing them and they take them back to the others. Gene and Rachel recognize the kids – they are from Willoughby. Miles forces Monroe to let Gene and Rachel deal with the kids and when Gene decides to take them back to their families, Miles follows but doesn’t stop him.

Miles and Monroe confront each other and have a discussion of their motives and what their endgame is. Monroe wants to get it all back and get revenge on the Patriots. Miles’ motivation isn’t as clear – redemption?

They go to the girl’s house and speak with her dad. He doesn’t believe them that the Patriots are hurting the kids until his daughter tells him that they are blindfolded at night and wake up in the morning and don’t remember anything. Her father examines her black eye and sees numbers tattooed on her eyelid. He reads them and then turns around to talk to Gene.

When he turns his back, his daughter grabs his shotgun, kills him, and then slits her own throat while everyone including the other recruit watches in horror.

They take the boy back with them to the dam. Neville, Jason and Truman attack the group. We’re treated to Neville and Monroe fighting  while Jason and Conner do likewise (whether for Charlie or for their fathers is unclear). Predictably, the fights both break up without any serious injuries to any parties and Neville, Jason, and Truman retreat. Rachel lets the other recruit go and convinces Miles not to shoot him, which upsets Monroe.

Aaron and Priscilla

They stop for the night about 200 miles from Willoughby and Aaron comments that Priscilla seems way too happy. She tells him that she thinks they are meant to be back together. He decides he’s okay with that and then they consummate that agreement.

Later, while Aaron sleeps, Priscilla wakes and walks towards a large tree. When she gets there, the fireflies all arrive and swirl around her.

Patriots

We’re treated to a flashback through Truman’s eyes. He was working at Guantanamo after the blackout taking care of the detainees when a number of sailboats arrived and a lot of people disembark – many of the governmental figures from before the blackout, including the previous Secretary of Defense, now President Davis.

We learn that the President and secretary of state were killed when Air Force One crashed during the blackout. Only the vice president is left and Davis has a plan for that, too. He introduces Doyle to the men at Guantanamo and tells them of his plan to hunker down while “natural selection” takes place in the mainland. Afterward, they will go back and take over, forming a stronger country by torture and mental manipulation if needed.

Back in Willoughby, Doyle is furious to find out that Truman went out with Neville without consulting him first. He’s determined to punish them both. He later brings Jason in and reads the tattoo under his eyelid and suddenly Jason’s back under his command.
