Jeri returns to Science Fiction in a big way on Helix tonight. She portrays Constant Sutton and this chick doesn’t mess around. Watch the first five minutes of Day Seven at the bottom of this post.
On Feb 9 she replied to fellow cast member Mark Ghanime’s comment on her upcoming character alluding to her mind bending role:
Helix_JeriTWEETNOTE: Minor Plot spoilers ahead
Helix - Season 1Here’s what Jeri has to say about her character: “She was just fun. This was a really fun role to play because it’s – she’s kind of out there. You know, she’s not subtle, which I love.” ” … she’s certainly driven, and she definitely has an agenda that she is there to do. Hatake has gone off the rails. He is supposed to be finding them a virus and a cure, and he’s screwed up. He’s messing around and doing his own thing, and that’s not okay, so she’s there to fix it, and whatever she has to do to make that happen is what has to happen.

Showrunner Steve Maeda says Constance is a fixer.  “She comes in and she takes care of things. And you know under the guise of corporate benevolence, she really has this very, very clear agenda.”
Steve also expanded on the fact that Constance already has silvered eyes and the need to file her teeth. “I think that was something that came from Cameron’s original script. It may have actually been in the original pilot. I don’t remember, but it’s something that we always liked because it was so freaking weird. And we just had to put it in. It’s just the best, so yes; it was there originally. It was something that fell out of the pilot I think, and then we ended up finding a nice place for it.”

Helix - Season 1Jeri also told us who some of her favorite characters were on Helix. She says she was blown away by Kyra Zagorsky (Julia Walker), but her fan crush was for Hiroyuki Sanada (Dr. Hiroshi Hatake) “Well I think again working with Hiro Sanada, he’s just – he’s incredible. This man is such – I mean everybody, the entire cast is fantastic, but he’s just – he’s in another world. He’s not even human. It’s crazy. That man is unbelievable. I was in awe of him. I still am in awe of him. He’s – the man is a ninja. No, honest to God, I am such a fan girl about him. I just like follow him a round. I’m like, “Oh, my God, you’re so cool. You’re so cool.”

And, what are we to do with all these burning questions on Hatake’s motives and the truth? Steve Maeda says that all of the answers will be revealed in time. Everything will be fully explained. Helix airs tonight at 10pm on SyFy. I must say this show has been one of the creepiest, most exciting and just plain weird series I have seen in quite some time. I can not wait to see what happens!
