HELIX – 1.04 ‘Single Strand’ I’m Sorry Too

By  |

The infected are planning a mutiny. And Julia’s been kicked off the island. During her exile she gets chased by a Violent Vector and winds up being rescued by Creepy Gas Mask Man. Hiroshi? Is that you? Nope! It’s Jay. She informs Julia about various MRE lockers stored around the base. And whaddaya know? They discover cheese spray! Yum! But things in the base are never happy for long, Julia makes a very unwelcome discovery when she sees her initials carved on the wall. Somehow, she has been there before. Welcome to Crazy Town.

Hitake needs some love folks!

Hitake needs some love folks!

Hitake is spouting cryptic responses and plans on leaving the infected to die. He then battles differing imperatives with Sergio. Hiroshi plans on taking on Level R himself and reveals a hidden staircase to his minion Daniel. The two of them confront the so-called “infected” and the sly fox does it. He talks them down and quickly betrays them all with a bullet. I don’t’ think he was hugged enough as a child.

Doreen is trying to figure out which happened first, the chicken or the egg? She not having any of this crap and mentally twist’s Balleseros into revealing his true motives for being at the base. He delivers us a new term. Gene Delivery Vehicles. Doreen begins testing and makes a crazy observation. “Someone “designed” this virus.” The virus is a major slice job from human and animal parts. Someone’s playing Frankenstein with our genes.  As a reward for her efforts Dr. Boyle is murdered by vector rats. Everyone keeps saying I’m sorry this episode and those words fall far short.

From bad to worse.

From bad to worse.

Peter has been volunteered to be a human guinea pig. How much more can this dude take? Geez! The injection looked like anti-freeze. This Anti-viral is wicked. I wonder if the cure might be worse than the disease. Peter begins what looks like  a recovery, but will it last? Somehow I don’t think we’re off this roller coaster quite yet. Later it reveals the Virus is fighting back with a vengeance and it appears that Peter is going to actually die. Alan decides to clear the air with Peter and he learns more about the truth than he bargained for. I’m so sorry too.

It's not a tumor. Oh, yes it is!

It’s not a tumor.
Oh, yes it is!

What is up with Sarah’s tremor? When she looses most of her meds down the sink, I’ve a feeling we are about to find out. Ah! It’s a tumor!  She comes clean on her test boo-boo without revealing the infected vector in her room then blisses out on Morphine.

Observations:

  • Hitake is not afraid of the Vectors, because apparently they recognize one of their own.
  • In one of Peter’s lucid moments he reveals Hitake’s interest in Julia from the beginning.
  • We didn’t actually see Doreen die.
  • I  am beginning to believe Julia is the key to the whole mess.
