Jennie Garth Goes Home for the HOLIDAZE [Review]

By  |

I love watching Jennie Garth in holiday movies. She brings sparkle and the right amount of humor to the stories, and in her latest, an ABC Family original film called Holidaze, she adds a bit of physical comedy that I thoroughly enjoy.

Holidaze is a story which follows the It’s A Wonderful Life theme, where Garth’s character, Melody , is completely immersed in her life as a corporate badass. When the company she works for plans to open their 100th store in the tiny, sweet town she grew up in, her boss sends her there to convince the town that this would benefit its residents. She has a fight on her hands when her ex-fiance, who’s Bed & Breakfast is slated for demolition to make way for the store’s parking lot, challenges her and becomes the voice of the town uniting against the chain department store.

Carter grabs Melody from her mother’s home and takes her to the inn to show her what he’s built and why it means so much to him. When Melody takes a tumble down the stairs and bumps her head, she wakes up in a world where she’s married to Carter and owns a small chain of cafes, Sweet Melody’s Cafe. She’s never worked for Save Now, her boss and assistant don’t know her, her best friend never heard of her, and she ends up fighting on the side of the town when her “boss” comes to do what she was sent there to do originally.

Melody comes back to her reality after another knock on the head but not without having learned some valuable lessons about herself, her family and the town she loves.

Holidaze is one of those movies that I’ll watch over and over again. It’s perfect for Thanksgiving, I think even more so than for Christmas. It premieres December 8th at 8/7c on ABC Family, and stars Cameron Mathison, Mary Kay Place and Conrad Coates. It’s part of the 25 Days of Christmas programming that ABC Family offers up each year.
