THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: Catch Me If You Can Recap

By  |

This week’s episode might have been one of my favorites so far this season. I loved Stefan in this episode. Everyone is trying to find the cure or stop it from being found, so let the Hunter games begin!

We begin at the bar (which was more like Klaus’ slaughterhouse) where Jeremy is refusing to take orders from Klaus. Klaus told Jeremy and Matt that he’d give them a two-minute head start, and then he’d compel the new vampires to kill Matt, so Jeremy would have no choice but to kill them. They took off to the lake house where the vamps couldn’t get in and Damon surprisingly agreed to help slow the new vamps down. He seems to be growing a little soft spot for Matt. Aw. Elena arrives to the lake house just in time to save Matt from a thirsty newborn. They all went inside and were safe from the vamps because the sun came up.

Over at the Salvatore Mansion, Stefan and Rebekah discussed their new plan to steal Silas’ headstone from Shane so that Shane and Bonnie could join Team Rebekah on the hunt for the cure.

The shady professor and Bonnie were in his office, and Bonnie was concerned because she can’t control her power after doing the spell (that almost killed April). He held her hand and calmed her down and she gained control. It is like he has mind control over her or something. Bonnie’s Dad and Sheriff Forbes come is his office to bring him in for questioning.

Damon and Jeremy went back to the bar and found a blood trail that led to a pile of dead bodies and a dead end for Jeremy. Kol (looking super cute) was responsible for the bodies and told them that finding the cure would awaken Silas which would set off the end of all time. Kol doesn’t want that to happen, so he is not happy about them searching for the cure. Lucky for Jeremy, Kol didn’t want to kill him and suffer the hunter’s curse, so he threatened to rip off his arms. Damon fought Kol and told Jeremy to run.

Stefan and Rebekah searched Professor Shane’s office for the headstone. She found some of Shane’s herbs and tried to get Stefan to burn some with her, but he wasn’t interested. She told him he was much more fun in the 20’s.

Bonnie convinced her mayor Dad to let her talk to Shane because if he was guilty, he would tell her. Well she was in for a surprise when he admitted to her that he coordinated the deaths of Pastor Young and the 11 council members.

Jeremy called Elena to tell her that Kol had Damon. She went to Klaus and pleaded with him to help her. She told him that they all wanted the same thing, the cure. So Klaus called Kol and told him to stay away from Jeremy and if caused any more problems he would put him back in the box. Kol agreed but found a way around his promise, by compelling Damon to kill Jeremy. Kol is a sneaky little original.

Back in Shane’s office, Stefan and Rebekah looked at Shane’s artifacts and talked about Elena. She told him they had so much fun in the 20’s because they didn’t care and they did what felt good. Then Stefan replied with my 2nd favorite line of his ever (my first favorite is coming up later in this episode so stay tuned) “The sex wasn’t good because we didn’t care. It was good because you’re crazy. Crazy sex is always good.” Love it! She told him to stop caring and just when they were about to kiss, a guy came into Shane’s office and found the headstone. Rebekah grabbed him by the throat and they started to question him. He was compelled obviously, because he bit his own tongue and then stabbed himself in the neck so they didn’t find out who sent him. Was it Klaus? Kol? The Shady professor? We will have to wait and see.

Bonnie turned off the camera so Shane could explain his involvement. He told her about Silas, and how it didn’t matter that he killed the council members because they’ll be brought back when they find him. Bonnie thought he was crazy (which he is) and he tried to pull on her heart strings by bringing up Grams. So wrong! He said “Aren’t you curious what’s happening to her now? Wouldn’t you like to see her again?” I swear I hate this guy. Bonnie got mad and started crushing his hand with her mind. Her father came in and tried to calm her down but it didn’t work. She used water that turned to fire to keep him out. Shane told her she was in control and like a finger snap she was back to normal.

At the Grill, Damon is looking for Jeremy and Jeremy picks up that Damon is acting a little off. He started to go after Jeremy but Elena stopped him and he realized that Kol must have compelled him because he will kill Jeremy if he finds him. Jeremy went down in the tunnels and Damon followed him, but was yelling for Jeremy to get away because he was coming to kill him.

Out of desperation, Elena called Stefan for help. She was surprised when Rebekah answered his phone and told her he wouldn’t talk to her. She knew he would still hear her, so she said that Damon was compelled to kill Jeremy and if he cared about Jeremy or the cure he would come help them.

In the tunnels, Jeremy cut his hand and let it bleed on his jacket to trap Damon. When Damon picked up the jacket Jeremy attacked him. Damon bit his arm and Jeremy shot him in the stomach. Damon told him to shoot him in the heart because he won’t be able to stop himself from trying to kill him. He went for Jeremy, and he shot him in the head. When Damon woke up, he went back on the hunt for Jeremy. Elena told him he could resist the compulsion because they love each other, but it doesn’t work like that. When he found Jeremy, he told him to shoot again and just in the nick of time Stefan shows up to save the day. He snapped Damon’s neck and looked at Elena and said “You’re Welcome.” I am really loving this Stefan! He took Damon home and drained most of his blood so he would be weak. Stefan plans to keep Damon there and away from Elena until they find the cure, the sire bond and compulsion are broken.

Elena stopped by and Stefan told her she couldn’t see Damon because she’d let him out. Elena asked what he was doing with Rebekah, assuming he was trying to punish her. He told her he didn’t care what she did anymore. She told him that he was lashing out and that was his pain talking, not him. Then he said (here it is, my favorite Stefan line ever) “Sure it is. You’ve just never seen me like this. You don’t know what I look like when I’m not in love with you.” BOOM!

After Elena left teary eyed, Stefan busted in Rebekah’s room. They agreed to have no feelings and no attachments. Then he pushed her on the bed They started kissing and it was on! Bow chicka wow wow.
As if that wasn’t a good enough ending, there was more. Jeremy and Elena came up with a plan. If he kills one Original vampire, the line of vampires he turned will die with him. So Jeremy needs to kill Kol and that is what he intends to do. The hunter games will resume next week.

WOW! What did you think of the episode? What about Stefan and Rebekah? Do you like the Elena free Stefan? Who do you think compelled the guy to get the headstone? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
