THE MINDY PROJECT Recap: In the Club

Mindy is lamenting having had a boring weekend compared to her coworkers. She didn’t have sex, preform a C-section or get so drunk she is still hung over on Monday morning.

Mindy tries to rectify this by asking her receptionist to take her clubbing. The whole office invites themselves along, so office night out.

Morgan, the creepy nurse has a club duffel bag, filled with things like Sudoku and an egg beater, it’s…something.

The club is like every club you see on any TV show, packed with pretty people. The office group is all hanging out together, causing Danny and Mindy to argue as per their usual.

Danny even gets out on the dance floor and does some dancing that causes the receptionist to look at him in a very infatuated way.

Morgan goes into the bathroom to get ready for “his night” with his duffle bag, he lays things out on the counter and people start to think he is a bathroom attendant. He goes with it and collects the tips.

And Hot British Doctor whose name I can’t bother to remember has put himself in with a bridal shower. He plans on giving the bride an early wedding gift. Charming.

Shawna, that’s the receptionist, thinks Danny is so fantastic on the dance floor she tries to go dance with him but as soon as she is out there he dances with her for only a second before moving on to a different girl. She is put out.

Meanwhile Mindy has finally found her “people”. According to Mindy black guys love her because she is Indian and she has a great butt. She gets asked to join VIP. On the way to VIP she stops by Danny to actually compliment his dancing, it is the first time I have seen them be nice to each other.

The guy that asked her to VIP is a white guy, a nerdy looking guy and she isn’t happy about it until she finds out he is a sports attorney. Then she gets him to introduce her to all of his basketball playing friends.

Morgan is still in the bathroom, he has taken to doing some actual cleaning in there. He even has a heart to heart with Hot British Doctor about his dalliances.

In VIP Mindy is talking to the NBA guys about their favorite romantic comedies. No matter what Mindy talks to them about they keep talking about how great Josh is. Mindy is having a good time.
Mindy even gets invited to the after party. She is all set to go but she sees her other receptionist, who is completely drunk getting hit on by a guy who is asking her to go to the Ukraine with him. She is drunk enough to actually go but Mindy saves her.

Shawna is carrying the drunk receptionist to Shawna when she sees Shawna is sad. She asks what is wrong. What is wrong is Danny is kissing some random girl at the bar. Mindy says some mean things about Danny to make her feel better and goes to leave for the after party.

At the last minute she cancels on Josh and the after party, even though Jamie Foxx is going to be there, to go back into the club and be with her work buddies.

It’s last call in the club and the whole group dances and hugs, except Hot British Doctor who does the right thing and doesn’t go home with the Bride and Danny who does go home with the random chick he was kissing at the bar earlier.

Outside the club there is a limo waiting for Mindy. It’s from Josh. He driver has her pashmina that she left in VIP and there is a note, “I bought this off Amarie for five hundred dollars! You owe me dinner J-“ She puts the receptionists and Morgan into the limo where they order pizza and drive home.
