MODERN FAMILY: Disneyland

Woo Hoo we’re going to Disneyland! Well unfortunately I’m not, but the entire family (Dunphy’s and Pritchett’s) are. Over at the Dunphy’s, Claire has a little surprise for Hailey. Her friend Bethany’s nephew Ethan (he’s nice, smart and a hockey player) is coming with them to Disneyland. Hailey is not happy about it because she likes bad boys, until Ethan walks in. Hello Mr. Ethan! Claire did good with this one.

The whole family meets up at Disneyland and Phil is ready to go straight to the Indiana Jones ride, but first Cam and Mitchell have to put their “Child Safety Tether” on Lily (which is basically a leash). Since Lily is going through a running away phase they don’t want to take any chances. On the way to the ride, Hailey sees Dylan (her ex-boyfriend) and he acts totally weird and rushes off to meet up with friends.

Gloria insisted on wearing high heels even though Jay warned her about the walking. Manny is worried about his stock project at school because it was the last day of the project and his stocks took a dive. Even with his Mickey Mouse Ears on, Manny is still all business.

Alex and Ethan are hitting it off now and Claire starts to rethink her plan of inviting him. Since Hailey saw Dylan, she isn’t into him anymore, but Alex sure is. Watch out Ethan, Alex may be smart but she is only 14.

Phil and Luke come off the Indiana Jones ride and Luke was so pumped! Phil, on the other hand didn’t look so hot. Even though he was feeling dizzy, he didn’t want to let Luke down so he went with him to another roller coaster. This can’t be good.

Mitchell was tired of the crazy looks they were getting and decided to take the leash off of Lily. He told her not to run off, but she saw Chip and Dale and took off. (Can you blame her? It was Chip AND Dale! Most of the time you are lucky just to catch one of them but both! I would have done the same thing).

Gloria and Manny went on Splash Mountain and Gloria loved it (it was a nice break from her high heels) and wanted to go again, but Manny was worried about how many bars he had on his phone. He won’t be riding again because of the terrible reception. Come on Manny, it’s Disneyland!

Gloria refused to admit her feet were killing her even though she was practically limping. Jay bought her some Minnie Mouse slippers and she was so grateful. It made Jay wonder if wearing uncomfortable shoes cause her to be angry from time to time. She started to wonder as well.

Hailey was going on and on about how great Dylan was when Claire spotted him. She was very eager for Hailey to see him too because he was on a bike with 3 other guys singing. Yep, Mr. Bad Boy Dylan is Dapper tan. He notices Hailey and they crash into a fruit stand. Suddenly Hailey is interested in Ethan again.

After a few more rides Phil looks like death. He sits down to rest and finally admits that the rides are killing him. He thinks getting older has made roller coasters too much for him even though he is the “King of Roller Coasters.” He tells Luke to have fun on Space Mountain without him.

After chasing Lily through the park, Mitchell puts the leash back on her. Jay offers a solution and Mitchell is willing to try anything at this point. Jay bought Lily a pair of baby high heels and she loved them! Brilliant! Fashionable and It also slowed her down.

Hailey took a picture with Little John and Ethan left to get a corn dog. While he’s gone, Hailey finds out Little John is really Dylan in disguise so he can talk to her. When Ethan returns, Dylan professes his love for her. Ethan told him to back off but he didn’t so he pushed little John to the ground. The bear suit was so heavy, Dylan couldn’t get up but he sure told him what he would do to him if he could!

Phil finds Claire and tells her he is officially an old man. She touched his forehead and said he was burning up and he probably had the flu. Phil thought about it and remembered there were a few people at his job with the flu. Woo hoo! He’s not old, he just has the flu!

Dylan and Hailey find everyone to announce that he got fired and they are back together. Apparently, Ethan found some friends and decided to stay with them. Claire was not amused.

Everyone is ready to leave, but Jay won’t let them without going to a robotic President Lincoln exhibit first. When Claire and Mitchell were young he made them go and it was a life changing moment for Jay. He was going to leave their mother that day, but after the exhibit he didn’t want to leave his kids. He waited until they were adults to get a divorce. Something about robot Lincoln made him realize that staying with kids was more important. At the exhibit, he put his arms around Claire and Mitchell and they shared a hug. Aw! Jay is a big softie after all.

Modern Family airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on ABC.
