REVENGE: “Betrayal” Brings Down a Senator

By  |

This week on Revenge Emily schemed to take down the DA who falsely prosecuted her father. The former district attorney is now the senator and Emily knows him well, she even worked on his senatorial campaign. Clearly she’s following the “keep your friends close, and your enemies closer” life model.

The episode begins with Emily sleeping alone in her new house when FBI agents come in, followed by Victoria Grayson. Victoria says, “how long did you really think you could fool me?” Luckily, Emily awakes to find herself safe and alone at home…until she hears a noise, grabs a gun and is ready for the defensive attack. It’s only Sammy though, returning to his old home once again.

After the death of Jack and Declan’s father, they are both quite torn up. While Jack is focused on honoring his father’s life, Declan is more focused on getting back at Adam. Nolan helps Declan hack into Adam’s computer so he can record Adam via his own video cam. Declan discovers Adam cheating on Charlotte, but in the end decides to send her a video of himself by his boat asking her out again. Kind at heart, but where were you, Declan, when you were supposed to be spreading your father’s ashes? Oh yeah, MIA.

Emily has Daniel take her to a steakhouse where they run into the brother of the waitress that Daniel nearly killed back in his drunken rich-boy days. His family paid off the judge so he wouldn’t go to court, and the girl so she could rehabilitate in peace. The only catch was that Daniel was to never see her again. In an effort to clear his conscious, Emily takes Daniel to the rehab center where the girl is so he can apologize. She didn’t accept. Shocker.

Also this week, Tyler, Daniel’s playboy roommate from Harvard, crashes in at the Grayson Manor. Tyler instantly develops an interest in Ashley, but she gives him the cold shoulder…more to come with this I hope!

Most importantly though, for the takedown of the week! Emily has a video of Senator Kingsley and his mistress. Sneaky as she is, she has Nolan send the video to the senator’s tablet. Shaken by the video, the senator doesn’t know what to do or who to suspect. The senator and his mistress are no longer having an affair; however, before it was ended she got pregnant and he gave her money for an abortion. This news would be extremely detrimental to his campaign because of his views on that issue.

At the dinner Victoria seats Emily next to Michael Davis, Lydia’s ex-husband, in hopes that their “big affair” will be clear by their interactions. Bummer for her, there was no affair (I’m quite happy to hear that Emily wouldn’t sink to the point of sleazy). Davis shows up with his date, who Emily had introduced him to the previous summer.

When the senator is about to make his speech he gets a message to look for the woman in the red dress. His mistress has arrived! And she’s still pregnant! Kingsley immediately announces that he will not be running for reelection and leaves the podium, hoping that his wife will not find out that his “men” discovered that Kingsley’s ex-mistress has been in contact with “him” for about a month. Emily, digitally masquerading as the Senator, has been sending her money for the baby and even promised to leave his wife. While Mrs. Kingsley still doesn’t know about any of this, just destroying his career is obviously not enough for Emily. She wants to take down his life. So she releases the video of him and his mistress online for the whole world to see. Poor Mrs. Kingsley, it’s not your fault your husband is such a horrible person.

A new development this week: Victoria actually may be a good person. Back during David’s trial, Victoria came forward to Kingsley with evidence that would have exonerated him, setting him free. However, her husband convinced the DA to go forward with the trial and to convict an innocent man. I had been wondering why Victoria would turn on David if she loved him the way it has been implied, I guess she didn’t after all. Will Emily still try to take Victoria down? Or just everyone around her?

Number one boss thing that Emily did this week: One may ask, how did Emily get the video of Kingsley and his mistress? Emily BOUGHT the building that the mistress lived in so she could install video cameras to spy on the two of them.

Number two boss thing Emily did this week: When Kingsley’s team finally traced by the IP address of the video, it came from inside the Grayson Manor, leading everyone to believe that Victoria may be behind the entire scheme.

What did you think of this week? Will Charlotte and Declan get together next week? Should Ashley give Tyler a chance? Is Emily trying to take down Victoria, or is she just caught up in the action?
