Update: “Eureka” To End After Sixth Season

By  |

I can’t say I was really surprised to hear this today. Colin Ferguson and Sally Richardson-Whitfield touched on this very thing in a recent interview promoting season 4.5, airing now. According to Deadline, Eureka will wrap after season 5 and the cast will return in October to film the final six episodes that will mark its exit.

I will miss this little show with its great humor, fresh storylines and excellent cast. It was one of those shows that my kids (11 and 14) and I enjoyed watching together, and there aren’t many of those out there. I don’t think there was one character I didn’t like, including the guests that passed through our beloved little nerd town. At least it will end on a high note and the showrunners have ample time to give it the finale it deserves.

Watch Eureka on Syfy Monday nights at 8/7 central.

Update: THR reported late last night that there will not, in fact, be six more episodes for a partial season six. A Syfy spokesperson told THR, “After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka.” The Christmas episode and the twelve new episodes for season 5 will still air as planned.
