Matt Passmore Leaves The Ranch, Head For The Glades

Matt Passmore stars in the new A&E series The Glades

Hot and arrogant, just the way I like my cops.

Excuse me, why did no one tell me sooner that The Glades, the new series from A&E, starred someone from McLeod’s Daughters? My interest level would have jumped 5 levels instantly! OK, I guess Facebook was trying to tell me by putting those “If you like Leverage, check out The Glades” ads on my page, but I pretty much ignored them. Instead I was left to figure it out on my own while editing the Nice Girls Guide for July’s new and returning shows. Imagine my surprise when I went to pull a photo for The Glades and none other than Marcus Turner was looking out at me.

Matt Passmore, who played nice guy Marcus on McLeod’s Daughters during the final couple of seasons, is the lead in The Glades. Here he’s playing a Chicago cop who gets in trouble for sleeping with – I’m sorry, allegedly sleeping with his chief’s wife and is forthwith banished to Florida where he joins the state police. The title of the show refers to the Everglades, of course, and I assume there will be some alligators and swamps and bugs involved in the storylines. It also sounds like Matt’s character, Jim, is a really smart guy who knows it and doesn’t mind rubbing it in other people’s faces. So he’s hot and arrogant. I’m in.

At least for the first couple of episodes. If the show is any good, I’m thinking this could be the perfect companion for True Blood, another Sunday night show set in a sleepy, sultry small town that harbors a lot of secrets. Come to think of it, Leverage is also on Sundays. Maybe Facebook was on to something here.

Check out this video of Matt talking about the character, sadly not in his native Australian accent. The Glades premieres Sunday, July 11 at 10/9c on A&E.
