The CW has announced that they’ve acquired the rights to Moonlight, the just-ahead-of-the-craze vampire series that aired on CBS from 2007-2008. Reruns of the show’s first and only season will be paired with reruns of The Vampire Diaries beginning June 3.

Can we just dish out a big ol’ spoonful of We Told You So here? BethAnne, Rueben, and I were all part of the effort to save Moonlight in 2008. We looked to the CW to pick it up after CBS’ startling cancellation, but got the cold shoulder. A few months later, True Blood debuted on HBO and the first Twilight movie hit theater screens and vampires were hot, hot, HOT! Imagine if CBS had given the series another season. Already established with 7-8 million fans, and getting better with every episode, who knows how huge that show would be right now, with CBS looking like geniuses for predicting a trend.

Bitter, party of three?
