Glee-fully Sitting In The Castle With Ugly Betty

By  |

I have some thoughts, about TV, and fortunately I have a column where I can post them. Last week served up some thought-provoking episodes of some of my favorite shows; not, like, really deep thoughts, but thoughts nonetheless.

Castle – Was anyone else a little squicked that Castle slept with the actress who looked and acted enough like Nikki Heat to land the role in the movie based on the book based on Beckett? No? Just me? OK then. Sounds like they’re going to address their attraction soon (and by “they” I mean Castle and Beckett).

Glee – Holy crap does Idina Menzel look like Lea Michele! There have been rumors that Idina’s character, Shelby, would turn out to be Rachel’s birth mom, and Ryan Murphy appears to have confirmed it – or at least not denied it. Now that I’ve seen them both on the show, I don’t see how they can’t make that biological connection. In other Glee happenings, I’m glad Emma told Will to slow down and spend some time alone. Considering he’s been with Terri since he was 15, and spent some time making out with Shelby in this episode, Emma’s right to be trepidatious about getting serious with him so soon.

Ugly Betty – I cried. It was a lovely ending for a show that could be really out there with the melodrama and shenanigans. I liked that Betty chose to move to London, and that Daniel ended up following her but their relationship was left somewhat undefined. And I really, really liked the final shot: Betty heading back to work, with the “Ugly Betty” title card superimposed over the scene before changing to just “Betty”. I cried again.

The Vampire Diaries – I’m kind of loving that men’s jewelry is causing so much drama. The Salvatore brothers’ rings now have a match in the Gilbert rings (one of which was given to Alaric). Adding David Anders to an already compelling show was a stroke of genius. I’m not particularly interested in Stefan’s struggles, but Damon trying to keep control of the vampires’ secrets is strangely riveting. It’s going to be fun watching Ian Somerhalder smirk opposite David Anders.

What moments stuck out for you this week?
