Review: In Plain Sight, “Coma Chameleon”
In this week’s In Plain Sight, titled Coma Chameleon, ATF Agent Wade Guthrie wakes up after a three-year coma, the result of a gun shot wound from a weapons dealer, and discovers he’s been placed in witness protection under Mary’s care. Meanwhile, Raph’s aunt, played by the fantastic Rita Moreno, comes for a visit and to meet Mary. Mostly to meet Mary.
When Rita Moreno appears on my tv screen, nothing else that is going on at that moment exists. Not for me. The other characters fade off the screen and nothing they are saying is important. This may sound extreme, but I’ve been a fan ever since seeing her play Tuptim in The King and I and then as Anita in West Side Story. I was thrilled when I heard she was going to appear on In Plain Sight. Watch her once again command the screen in this episode.
Rita Moreno is not the only reason not to miss this episode. This one is a very emotional episode. In fact, after I finished watching it, I had to wait for the flood of tears to stop before I could see my keyboard to conjure up a review. That’s right, I was a hiccuping, sobbing, drippy-nosed, female at the end of this one, and you will be too. This is quite a turn-about from last week’s fun and humorous flashback to When Mary Met Marshall. Once again, the case parallels Mary’s personal life, in a way. (I love how they do that!) Both are heartbreaking. See what I mean when you watch Wednesday night’s episode, Coma Chameleon, airing at 10/9 central, on USA. Take a look:

I guess you’re serious, saying “When Rita Moreno appears on my tv screen, nothing else that is going on at that moment exists.” I guess that would explain mistaking her for a completely different real person (Chita Rivera) in West Side Story, instead of her character (Anita).
Ah, yes, my mistake. Thank you for pointing that out to me so generously. You are too, too kind. I have fixed my blunder.
this season has so far been a huge disapoointment. i will delete in plain sight from my tivo, and move on. the former west wing actress should be killedd that would make my day or night. however since i have no reason at the moment to watch this show anymore, i will never know. story line is so hollywood, fake, phony, and a drag. before i watched this show without looking away. now i channel surfe to see what else is on. Good bye in plain sight. hope it gets cancelled by the end of the year.
