A Long Time Ago…

By  |

This is the post you should have had last week, if not for my scrambled brain (the summer does horrible things to me.)

Over a week and a half ago, one of my first Forum friends was in Los Angeles. One day, along with a surrogate Nice Girl J, we had lunch and started planning a trip down to San Diego for some fandom reminiscing. You see, the three of us all love Veronica Mars (and why not, Veronica was a chick-ass chic and Logan was even better than a Nice Boy.) While the show’s been off the air for a few years, it still holds a special place for each of us.

So, one very nice Friday afternoon, we carpooled down to San Diego, filming locations in hand, and went to see some of our favorite places. First up with “The Camelot” which is actually another motel entirely. We all couldn’t tell if the owners get tired of random women coming to take pictures of the balcony, but that’s not our concern.

Up next was the exterior for Mars Investigation and the car wash used in the Pilot before we moved on to other locations.

Most of the places (like the real life location of the Mars Apartment) look exactly as they should, save one we visited. This one exterior had us all confused. According to a fan-generated site, the place was supposed to be the River Styx from season two. However, the reality of the location is a CVS pharmacy.

By the end of the day, we had our fill of locations, and some gorgeous San Diego weather. J and I could always plan another trip for different locations, if we ever feel up to it.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
