Last night, Rueben and I both attended the LA Times Envelope event for In Plain Sight. To call the event a great time might be an understatement, but I haven’t had a chance to figure that out yet.
In attendance was most of this seasons cast, save for Fred Weller, Cristian de la Fuente, and Josh Molina (who according to a tweet back to us last week, wasn’t invited, sniff.) However, despite missing those cast members, the panel was a laugh riot. The panel decided at multiple times to make fun of Weller for not being in attendance. Todd Williams had to wonder why Detective Dershowitz is the only male cast member not to have been lucky in bed, and also why he has a Polish last name (there was a story about Oppa and wanting some Jungle Fever, but that was all we managed.)
The closeness seen in each episode comes across when the cast is together. Todd Williams said he was grateful to have moved into Mary Shannon’s inner circle, which becomes more apparent in the July 21st episode, screened for all of those in attendance. Holly Maple’s Eleanor, it seems, has taken the outside role that Dershowitz held last year (maybe Agent O’Connor is really the outsider, but the question was never asked.) The three leading women all talked about their relationships together, and how they did exist as two groups last season, Mary and then Jinx and Brandi, compared to the ways in which the three of them have come together more this season.
When the episode finished, I was left wondering one very specific question that Executive Producer David Maples wouldn’t answer, but I will take solace in knowing that both Mary McCormack and Paul Ben-Victor have wondered the same thing. Curious as to what had me use up one of three audience questions? I suggest turning in this Sunday and then again on the 21st for a hint. After the episode we screened has aired, I’m sure I’ll share.
