Could There Be a Sixth “Supernatural” Season?

By  |

Around the time the CW announced that Supernatural had been renewed for a fifth season, the show’s creator, Erik Kripke, also announced that it would most likely be his last season with the show. At a recent European convention, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles told fans that they had each signed on for six years. Does this mean there will, indeed, be a sixth season?

Supernatural started out rather sluggish, but began gaining momentum in viewers enough for the CW to bring it back for another season. From there, it has accumulated an impressive fan base, and by the end of season four, was able to hold its own against some pretty big competition. Credit for this can be attributed, largely, to Kripke and his team of writers, who never failed to delight fans with new ideas for story lines. Jared and Jensen were the icing on the cake, bringing their acting chops and good looks to the table.

If the CW picks up Supernatural for a sixth season, it could be without Kripke. I was okay with next season being the last one. Where can you go after an end-of-the-world battle? I’d rather the show went out on top than with a whimper and a groan. I’m not sure how a season without Kripke would do. His are some pretty big shoes to fill. What are your thoughts?
