Richard T. Jones plays the soft-spoken, highly intelligent, FBI agent, James Ellison, assigned to track down Sarah Connor. His character moves through some changes as the story develops and he’s not finished yet. Now, working for Skynet, he must try and figure out where he fits into the big picture.

I had an opportunity to chat for a few minutes with Richard this week about Ellison, his journey and beyond. I asked him if he thought Ellison would end up in a good place, when all is said and done, and he had this to say, “I hopes it ends well with Ellison, but he’s getting pretty deep into Skynet and he wants to help Sarah now that he’s met her, but he’s really not aware of how much or what part Skynet has to play in the grand scheme of things. I hopes it ends well! (laughs)

So, how did Richard come to be a part of this action? He explains, “When I got the script it had ‘Terminator’ stamped across it but nothing more. I sat down with Josh Friedman and Josh talked about a show that pretty much worked with the Terminator story and I just had to be a part of it.”

It was with mixed feelings that we all watched last week as one of the main characters came to his end. It was a moment fans of the series had been waiting for ever since the bomb was dropped at last summer’s San Diego Comic Con. I chatted a bit about this with Richard. “At Comic Con, I felt pretty confident that the one who was going to die wasn’t me. But nothing was sure.” With four little Jones’s to keep up with at home, I’d say it’s probably a good thing.

As always, we Nice Girls love to mix things up a bit, so I asked Richard which one of the other characters on the show would he like to play. “The sexy, sexy Brian Austin Green (laughs). I wouldn’t mind dabbling in Brian’s character, I really like Derek. But I also really likes John (Connor) this year. He’s really coming into his own and maturing and Tom is doing a fantastic job with the role. I’ve hung around with Brian and Tom and with all the action they get into, I just couldn’t keep up with them, so, I’m happy playing Ellison.”

What’s next for Richard? “I would like to direct. Whether it be on Sarah Connor or something else, I’d like to try directing.” We’ll be watching out for that, Richard!
