Quality Time in the City of Angeles

By  |

The last week for this Nice Girl has been far too busy. I suppose that it’s an advantage to life in Los Angeles, but it’s nice to recap for everyone else.

The Paley Center for Media (formally the Museum of Television and Radio) has numerous events throughout the year for members and nonmembers alike. Every Fall, the center’s two locations hold previews of all the new shows on each network. For four of those five nights this year, I along with a few of my friends attended.

In the grand scheme of things, these events are pretty fun. There’s a chance to watch the shows before their air on television, and this year, Paley has worked with TV Guide to bring some of the teams behind each show to the events in LA. Before the shows were showcased, there were discussions with some time for questions from the audience in the theatre. Of all four nights I attended, I was most impressed with John Noble from Fringe and the cast of the CW shows. Everyone else was still a joy to watch, but they were the most entertaining.

After each night, my friends and I would talk about which shows we liked or didn’t (or leave after the one show we wanted to see anyway.) After the Fox event on the fifth, I had to sit on the revelation from the end of the premiere. I’m still sitting on various information from the returning shows from NBC and ABC (NBC, it seems wasn’t confident in their initial line-up of shows at the event and replaced them all with the network’s sophomore shows, and ABC has only one new show on its line-up.) So for now, this nice girl is sitting on some good spoilers, and they’ll remain there.

More recently, another friend informed me of an event for Sarah Connor Chronicles yesterday. Much of the event was waiting in line for a chance at autographs, but I suppose that it’s one of the prices for events here.

For now, I’ll get back to my television, but should more events come around my side of the country, I’ll try to be there.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
